Qigong Food of the Month: Green Tea for Me
Shawn Cartwright, March 2009
After a hard
workout, or just some hard work, make yourself a pot of green tea to
quench your thirst.
Start with a
glass or ceramic teapot and high quality green tea. Green tea is like wine
– the better the quality the more expensive. There are many different
types such as Jasmine, Dragon Well, and Bi Lou Chun. Try to select the
freshest green tea you can find – unlike black tea, it is not fermented
and does not improve with age. The quality of the water is extremely
important, so use the best available.
Add 1 teaspoon of tea to the pot per cup. Bring the water to a boil and then let it cool to about 140F. Rinse the tea leaves by pouring enough water into the pot to cover the leaves and then immediately pour it out. Then fill the pot with water and let it steep for 3 to 4 minutes before pouring into cups. With high quality green tea, you can repeat the process to make 2 to 3 pots of tea.
Remember to
drink your tea with a smile!
